If you don't already know, I am currently in a mentorship/accountability/Bible study kind of thing with Threasa Doiron. (She is AMAZING.) And we're going through this series called "Fully Devoted - Pursuing Spiritual Transformation". It's written by John Ortberg, Laurie Pederson, and Judson Poling. But anyway, what I really want to get to is something I read today as I was preparing for our meeting tonight.
This week's topic was "Growth" and what it truly means to grow in Christ Jesus. It covered things like reading and meditating on Scripture, solitude and prayer, and corporate learning and worship. The corporate learning and worship section really caught my attention. So...I've decided to bless you all, (all 2 of you that read this) by typing out this section!
Corporate Learning and Worship
Let him who cannot be alone beware of community...
Let him who is not in community beware of being alone...
-Dietrich Bonhoeffer, Life Together
Just as we must pursue the stillness of solitude, we must seek the fellowship and accountability of community if we want to fully experience and express spiritual life. So we commit ourselves to coming together and submitting to the teaching of the Word. We also gather to worship God. We do this simply because God is worthy of our praise. In addition, God, in his grace, has decreed that in worship we are often encouraged and transformed in ways we could not be apart from this practice. In these corporate practices we root out self-absorption. We are reminded that we need and are a part of each other, that our life is about something bigger than just ourself.
Amen.

Amen! Isn't it amazing how God works? I was reading in 1 Corinthians this morning and it was talking about how we are temples of the LORD and that we are the building of Christ. As a community (the church) we come together.
Rachelle, I've missed our accountability chats these past few months...I a bursting with stuff to talk with you about...and I don't know why but I feel as if a wedge was driven between that fountain of thoughts that so freely flowed once between us. I wish to much to talk with you about all that has been happening in my life and to listen with excitement at what God is doing in your life...perhaps even shed a few tears in rejoicing or realization with you. Rachellie? Where have you been?
We should come in agreement and make an effort to unplug that stopped up river of thoughts and talks waiting to happen to glorify our King! I love you my dear friend!
Be much blessed today! May you smile in the wondrous presence of Jesus!
Happy Thankgiving Rachellie my dear! Missed you girls last night at youth! God bless! talk to you soon!
Happy Thanksgiving My Shellah-girl!! I Love Ya!! God Bless!
Thanks you two for your comments, blessings, and love! Haha... I hope you two had an amazing and blessed Thanksgiving, and that you really realized how much there is to be thankful for.
I know I did.
And I'm not just talking about the food that is STILL trying to make its way through my digestive track...
