In a while crocodile...

Tomorrow morning, bright and early, my family is headed downstate to Treasure Island (the actual name of the island) for a week of sun, water, and family bonding. I'm very excited to be having this time with no distractions. The only technology that will be around us is the DVD player (used only if it rains, or in evenings), our portable cd players, and the camp's phone.
The cabin sounds like a great place, and it's in a lake that has a sandy bottom.
My aunt Kristie will be bringing Amelia out a couple of days, along with Caesar (one of her great danes), at least a couple of days. One of those days we get to babysit Amelia while Kristie goes to work! I'm super excited. The only thing is that I will most likely be in charge of feeding her...and she has recently discovered spitting. Ah, well... what's a little baby food? :)

THEN! On Wednesday, my family and I will be heading to Gilford, NH for a day jam-packed with MUSIC! Yes, you guessed it:

I am so excited for the candle light service. I remember it back in 2003, and it is one of the coolest experiences that you can experience.

There's only one problem...and that is that Stryper and AudioA are playing at the same time......
....On complete opposite sides of the park.
Oh well! I'll just make the first 20 minutes of one of them and then switch or something.

So, when you're listening to music this coming Wednesday, think of me.

I love music. I love musicians. So this is going to be good.

250th post!

And what a post it will be...

So I accomplished quite a bit this evening:

I got Nicole to join our drama/dance team.
I printed 148 photos, which can be deleted from my camera(!!!).
I spent the evening gallivanting around Walmart with Nicole while I waited for my photos. (Okay, that last sentence really wasn't much of an accomplishment, but it was fun event.)
Once my photos were ready mom and I dropped Nicole off at PIWC, I (and mom) came home and ate a piece of peanut butter toast (my supper).
THEN! I made a HUGE collage of pictures and then a smaller one as well. (I may post pictures of these collages within the next couple of days.)

I'd have to say the best part of my evening was going through my photos while sitting in my van with my mom and Nicole and coming across a 5x7 that I did not think that I had ordered. So I open the packet, and the picture was turned so I could not see what it was. I thought to myself "Did I not cancel that photo of the sunset....?" And then I turn it around and I am stunned into silence by this:

Nicole looks over and burst into laughter...her laughter quickly turns into gasps for air/wheezing.
I then start laughing and actually have a cramp form in my back.

We actually managed to stop laughing long enough to take these pictures:

Heyyyy, he's kinda cute!

Nicole loves Random Guy!

It's not often that guys randomly appear in my van, so we took the opportunity given us...

I'm returning the photo to Walmart tomorrow.

Please don't hurt me, Nicole...

I saw this white ninja comic today:

And I thought of this picture:

tough but worth it

It’s a tough process learning to discern what is the Voice of the Lord and what is not.

Reach

Beautiful Love,
You have changed my world;
It's so much better now...

And I don't know,
What You see in me;
But I'm glad that You found...

Something worth...
Loving, oh...

I reach for You...
I reach for You, yeah...
I reach for You; You reach for me, too...
You reach for me, too...
You reach me...

You are more,
Than I can take;
So all of You I receive...

And I cannot go,
To where You are;
So You take me....

Beyond these...
Dreams I dream...

I reach for You...
I reach for You, yeah...
I reach for You; You reach for me, too...
You reach for me, too...
You reach me...

I can't live,
Without You...

I don't wanna be,
Without You...

No, I can't live,
Without You...
And I am never,
Without You...

I reach for You...
I reach for You, yeah...
I reach for You; You reach for me, too...
You reach for me, too...
You reach me...

You reach me...
Ohh...

You should...

...check out Marc Broussard.

Nicole posted something about him yesterday on her blog and I was told [insert: 'forced'] to go and lisen to some of his music.

So I finally got around to it this morning, and, I must say, he does have a good voice. I like it, but, I am not claiming him as my future-husband as Nicole is doing.

He reminds me a little bit of Warren Barfield (listening to his cd right now) so that's a plus in my book.

So, check him out at his site.

i have absolutely no words for this one. simply laughter.

i found this on the offical "Jeremy Camp Blog : Tour Diary"...

And when he came to himself...

Lately, the Lord has really been teaching me a lot about the story of the Prodigal son.
I find it interesting that my morning internet use led me to this music video...

Luke 15:20-
And he arose, and came to his father. But when he was yet a great way off, his father saw him, and had compassion, and ran, and fell on his neck, and kissed him...

guess what i saw last night!

Do you lika da polka?

So, as some of you may already know, my family had a huge family reunion this past weekend.

Well...the Turner Family Reunion always has a talent show with a trophy and everything!! I know! Exciting! Hahaha... ANYWAY! On with what I was trying to say...

5 years ago, my mother, my aunt Nancy, and my aunt Lisa performed a song/dance/thing to the music of "The Girl from Ipanema". But they sang it "Tall and tan and young and lovely, the Turner girls from Easton go walking...and when she passes each one she passes goes... *mom steps on dad's hand, nancy step's on kevin's hand, lisa steps on billy's hand* 'AHHH!'..." and so and so forth. It was pretty funny considering they were wrapped in bed sheets with bright flowers and/or fruits on them, and they had their heads wrapped in brightly colored turbans. They also had fake fruit earrings and bold-red lipstick. It was hilarious, and needless to say, they won.

So, if we fast-forward five years, 3 weeks before the next Turner Family Reunion, and we find my mother and my aunts frantically trying to figure out what they are going to do to hold onto their title and their trophy. They contemplate a bunch of songs...some from Broadway musicals, and some that they remember fondly from their childhoods. But, get this, they decide to do a polka.
..."The Beer Barrel Polka"...

So my mother ends up being in charge of creating and/or finding blonde wigs, hoop skirts, and shirts for them all to wear. My aunt Nancy is in charge of finding the music (in accordian of course) on cd, and getting makeup. My aunt Lisa is in charge of making little ruffles for their ankles, and making wreaths of flowers to put ontop of their wigs. My grandmother (good ol' Joan) is in charge of making the skirts to go ontop of the crinoline (hoop skirts).

I will guide you through the following pictures that show the result of all their blood, sweat and tears...

Thursday night...at Nancy's...

Nancy, ever the photogenic one...

Do you sense a little frustration here?

Mom was too hot to wear her wig during practice...

"There's our mama, and our poppa, and our little sister Kristie, there's our brother Billy...we know that they are proud!"

I sat and took pictures while I laughed until I cried.

Nancy is such a ham...always wanting to be the center of attention... :P

Day of the performance:
Paige putting fake eyelashes on my mother...

Gram trying to figure things out while Paige puts fake eyelashes on her mother.

Polkaing sisters. (polkaing?)

Mark wins..."I've always been a sucker for blondes, and with 3 of them...I give it to them."

The girls finding it hilarious.

"And since we have reigned for the past 5 years, we pass it onto Barbara."

Baby Amelia trying to decide if my mother, in polka garb, is scary or not.

one of my favorite comics ever

Insight into the dog world...

I can't help but think that this is what every dog is thinking as they balance a treat on their nose and are forced to wait for however long the master chooses...

This next one makes me laugh...

The poor poodles...

God bless America...my home sweet home.

I had to post a flag so that I would feel more patriotic.
:)
Goodnight everyone!

Independence Day...?

Well, I will celebrate the signing of the Declaration of Independance and I will celebrate what our Founding Fathers wished this nation to be, but, in my humble opinion:
The Founding Fathers (even the non-Christian ones) would be completely and utterly disgusted with what our nation has become.

Perhaps this is a somewhat depressing post for the 4th of July, but, like I said, what have we become as a nation that we really have to be proud of?

Oh well.
I'm praying & believing for a revival.

God, please bless America. I do love it dearly, but I pray that your glory would rise so that the whole world, let alone our nation, would see how amazing You are.

green mean deflated machine

So the other day, as I was driving in PI, I happened to be following this person going EXTREMELY slow...about 10 under the speed limit. So my first thought is that it's an old person who thinks that he/she can take Sunday Drives on Thursdays... (wrong-o, by the way) But then I see that it's a 20-something girl with bumper stickers advertising her support and involvement in the Green party, and I'm like "Okay. Well. maybe she thinks she's saving the earth by not driving as fast..." And then I look at her tires. I really really hope she was on her way to some repair shop because her two left tires had practically no air in them. Nada. Zip. At this point I'm realizing that I should increase my distance behind this lady because her car is likely to explode (or something like that) at any second.

So...that's my story of the day. I hope you enjoyed it.
It ended rather bluntly with no dramatic finish, but it's how the situation actually happened.
